Credentialing
FAQ & FYI
FAQ & FYI
That's right! It CAN take that long. The credentialing process is different from one payer to the next. Ultimately, it depends on the payers' backlog, how often their credentialing committees meet, how long contracting may take, if your CAQH profile is complete and attested, and many other factors that could delay the process or equally speed things up.
You can't always get what you want! Unfortunately, most insurance payers do not back-date or "retro" an effective date once your credentialing is complete. Once you flow through the normal process of submitting your application, going through credentialing, and finally through contracting, your effective date is sometimes the date the committee approves your network participation. However, some payers will honor the effective date you requested on the initial application. In a perfect world, what provider wouldn't like to bill insurance within weeks of submitting their applications as opposed to months? The truth is, there is never a guarantee on how long this process will take. But, someone with a personal relationship with their provider representative or credentialing consultant typically can get applications processed much faster than someone who does not have this significant connection with the payer credentialing department, & that someone is us. You get what you need! And what you need is a working relationship with someone who has the experience, partnerships with provider representatives, an open line of communication, and the wealth of knowledge required to get the job done in a timely manner. You will have that with Alabama Credentialing Solutions, L.L.C. and our team working for you!
